Fees

Students and parents

• Free to search, message and book. There is no booking fee: you pay the tutor's price for the lesson, nothing on top.
• Paying by card when you book. The tutor's price for that lesson, charged when you book. The request reaches the tutor once you have paid.
• A deposit, if the tutor allows it. You pay the deposit when you book; the rest is charged to the same card when the lesson ends.
• Paying the tutor directly, if they allow it. No card on the site; you settle it between you.

Cancelling a paid lesson: a full refund if the tutor cancels (less the card fee if they have no earnings waiting to cover it). If you cancel 48 hours or more before the lesson, you are refunded less the card fee; later than that it is not refunded.

Tutors

• A basic listing is free. Profile, availability, messages and bookings.
• Card bookings: we keep 10%, or 5% with Featured. Stripe's card fee (about 1.5% + $0.25 for European cards, more for UK and non-European cards) comes out of your payout too.
• Paid directly? No fee: lessons the student pays you for directly cost you nothing.
• If you cancel a paid lesson, the student is refunded in full and the card fee comes off your next payout. With no payout waiting to cover it, the student is refunded less the card fee. We never absorb the card fee.
• Payouts: the day after each lesson we send your share to your Stripe account (connected in about five minutes, from Earnings), and Stripe pays it into your bank on its usual schedule, often within a few days; the first payout to a new account can take about a week.

Optional extras for tutors

• Featured: $20 a month or $120 a year (excl. tax). Top of the results, the badge, and the 5% fee: on card bookings it pays for itself from about 12 lessons a month.
• Verified badge: $19 once (excl. tax).

Prices exclude tax. Tax is added at checkout where applicable. Questions: contact us.
