About
I am passionate about languages, I can also speak Chinese, a bit of Spanish, German and Japanese and so I understand the difficulties of learning new languages. I'm a friendly, empathetic person and hope to make grinds as fun as possible because I know really well that in order to be successful at something, you must enjoy it!
Having studied French myself, I understand the complexities, how best to learn complicated grammar, and best practise when learning a language in general.
I'm Gemma, I'm originally from the UK but before moving to Ireland in 2021, lived in France for 3 years. I have a first class honours degree in Modern Foreign Languages (French, Chinese and German), having graduated in 2015. I also received the Dean's Prize for excellence for my undergraduate degree. Throughout my studies, I spent a year on Erasmus in Clermont-Ferrand in France.
I hold a degree in Language Studies from Leeds Beckett University (2015) and am currently finishing a Master's degree in Asian Studies (I will have finished in September 2022) at University College Cork. Throughout my undergraduate studies I did some French tutoring. I've also been tutoring French with UCC's Skills Centre during my Master's
I have additional experience teaching English in China back in 2016.
